His motorsport journey began with three years in karting, where he quickly made his mark by becoming Irish Kart Champion. From there, he stepped into the Renault UK Clio Cup and Clio Cup Italia, securing multiple wins and finishing the 2011 UK season as Vice Champion.

That same year, Árón made his BTCC debut with a one-off appearance at Knockhill, instantly turning heads by finishing inside the top-ten on his debut. The following season marked his first full-time campaign in the championship, piloting a Ford Focus ST Mk. II. He scored his maiden BTCC podium at Silverstone before claiming a breakthrough victory at the Brands Hatch season finale.

Since that impressive rookie campaign, Árón has become one of the championship’s most established front-runners. Across 326 BTCC race starts, he has collected 22 podiums, is a proven race winner, and achieved a career-best championship position of 7th in 2024. That standout 2024 season saw him crowned BTCC Independent Drivers’ Champion and contribute to Power Maxed Racing securing the Independent Teams’ Title, scoring points in all 30 races that season.

Last year saw Árón race the Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Corolla GR Sport in 2025, for the first time and in 2026, he returns behind the wheel of the Toyota Corolla GR Sport as he joins Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport, bringing over a decade of experience, and relentless determination to the team.

Gordon Shedden joins Laser Tools Racing and MB Motorsport for the 2026 BTCC season, as the most successful active driver in the championship with 53 victories to his name. A three-time BTCC champion, Shedden arrives with a vast amount of experience and a legacy built over nearly two decades at the front of the grid.

Born in Edinburgh in 1979, Shedden rose through the ranks of touring-car and one-make series before making his full-time BTCC debut in 2006 with Team Halfords. He burst onto the scene with four victories in his rookie season, immediately marking himself as a championship contender. His move to the Honda Civic in 2007 delivered another four wins and third in the overall standings, cementing his reputation as one of the series’ rising forces.

A full-time return with Honda Team Racing in 2010 set the stage for a dominant era. Shedden progressed from consistent podium finisher to securing his first BTCC crown in 2012 after another standout six-win campaign. Two further titles followed in 2015 and 2016, making him one of the championship’s modern greats and completing a remarkable seven-year streak of finishing inside the top three.

After a break from BTCC, Gordon made a return to the paddock in 2025 in the Speedworks Motorsport-run TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA, finishing 9th overall, with 3 visits to the podium and 14 top-10 finishes, plus a valuable win at Oulton Park.

Gordon enters the 2026 season as one of the most iconic competitors the BTCC has ever seen, and his arrival significantly strengthens Laser Tools Racing and MB Motorsport’s ambitions as they target success in the year ahead.
