BTCC resumes at Croft for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport

August 1, 2025

Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport resumes the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign this weekend, as the series returns from the summer break for the sixth round of the season at Croft.

Reigning champion Jake Hill, behind the wheel of the WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport, and the team head to Croft looking to return to front-running form after a difficult start to the 2025 season. Since victory at Brands Hatch in Round Two, the campaign has proven challenging for the team, who have been unable to rediscover the form that defined their championship-winning 2024 season.

Croft Circuit brings the BTCC to the northeast and has been a fixture on the calendar since the late ’90s. The 2.1-mile track, developed over more than 50 years, is known as one of the most technical challenges on the calendar and is often regarded as the truest all-round test in the BTCC.

The circuit holds fond memories for the MB Motorsport team, with 2021 marking their first-ever BTCC victory as Jake Hill claimed the win in the second race of the weekend. This weekend, Jake Hill will once again pilot his BMW 330i M Sport, with the team carefully managing his TOCA Turbo Boost (TTB) deployment. Due to his fifth-place standing in the championship, Jake will have just 9 seconds of TTB available per lap in qualifying—deployable only above 130 kph—and will be permitted just 5 laps of hybrid usage in the opening 15-lap race on Sunday.

Round Six kicks off on Saturday with two free practice sessions followed by qualifying at 15:30 BST, streamed live on the ITV Sport YouTube channel. All three races take place on Sunday, with live coverage on ITV4 and streaming on ITVX. Sunday’s triple-header is scheduled for 12:10, 14:30, and 17:10 BST. Live timing for all sessions is available here.

Jake Hill, Driver – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport
“It’s great to get back underway after the summer break. The first half of the season hasn’t gone the way we’d hoped after the win at Brands, but the whole team has worked incredibly hard to turn things around. Croft is a place with special memories for me and the team, with our first victory together in 2021, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there and hopefully putting together a strong weekend.”

Mark Blundell, Sporting Director – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport
“As we return from the summer break, the focus is firmly on resetting and building momentum for the second half of the season. It’s no secret that the opening rounds have been challenging, but we know the strength of our team and what Jake is capable of. Croft has been a positive venue for us in the past, and we’re determined to make the most of every opportunity this weekend.”
