Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport heads to Thruxton, Hampshire, this weekend for Round 4 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. The team returns to a happy hunting ground, aiming to bounce back and return to the front-running form of Brands Hatch earlier this season.
Reigning champion Jake Hill, driving the WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport, heads to Thruxton in a determined mood after a challenging weekend at Snetterton last time out. In 2024, Hill delivered a commanding double victory at the high-speed circuit - a weekend that played a vital role in his title-winning campaign. The team heads to Thruxton this year looking for a strong points haul at a circuit where Jake has finished in the top five in seven of his last nine races.
Thruxton, the fastest circuit in the UK, brings a unique challenge with its high-speed corners and significant tyre degradation, demanding a car setup that prioritises stability through fast, flowing sections and puts tyre management at the forefront. Goodyear’s hard compound tyre is essential to cope with the relentless pace, but even so, managing wear is critical and for the driver, confidence and full commitment are key to extracting maximum performance from every lap.
This weekend, Jake Hill will pilot his WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport, and the team will need to skillfully manage his TOCA Turbo Boost (TTB) deployment. Due to his third-place championship standings, he will have only 5 seconds per lap of TTB available during qualifying—deployable at a minimum speed of 135 KPH—and 3 laps of hybrid usage permitted in the opening 12-lap race on Sunday.
Round four begins on Saturday with two free practice sessions followed by qualifying at 15:00-16:00, which can be watched live on the ITV Sport YouTube channel. All three races take place on Sunday, with live coverage available on ITV4 and online at ITVX. Sunday’s triple-header races are scheduled to start at 11:45 (BST), 14:35, and 17:05, respectively. Live timing for all sessions is available here.
Jake Hill, Driver – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport
"Thruxton brings a unique challenge, but one I really enjoy. We had great success here last year with two wins, but this circuit takes a lot of confidence to get right. After the last round, we know we have a lot to focus on but the team has been working hard behind the scenes to hopefully get us back to where we should be.”
Mark Blundell, Sporting Director – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport
"After a tough outing last time out, the team has regrouped and is ready to hit ground running. Thruxton presents a fresh opportunity for us to get back on the front foot. It’s a circuit that demands commitment, so we’re focused on maximising every session and getting ourselves back where we belong."
