Oulton Park awaits Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport

June 19, 2025

Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport continues their 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign this weekend, as the series rolls into Oulton Park for the fifth round of the season.

Reigning champion Jake Hill, behind the wheel of the WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport, heads to Oulton Park looking to reignite his form after a turbulent start to the 2025 season. It’s been a year of highs and lows so far—the team climbed to the top step at Brands Hatch in Round Two, but has since endured difficult weekends at both Snetterton and Thruxton, falling short of the heights reached during the 2024 campaign.

A firm favourite on the BTCC calendar, Oulton Park in Cheshire combines breathtaking scenery with intense, wheel-to-wheel racing. First developed nearly 70 years ago, the circuit was expertly crafted into the natural contours of the landscape, and the BTCC has been a regular visitor ever since.

With its prime summer date, Oulton Park consistently attracts crowds of over 40,000 across the race weekend. Known for its vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere, the event often sees fans enjoying relaxed walkabouts with drivers and team members around the campsites.

In 2025, Oulton Park once again plays host to Rounds 13, 14, and 15 in its traditional June slot—the final stop before the BTCC heads into its annual mid-summer break.

The team has always enjoyed its visits to Oulton Park and holds an impressive record at the track. Across the previous six races, the squad has secured three wins and five podium finishes, reinforcing its status as a happy hunting ground.

This weekend, Jake Hill will once again pilot his BMW 330i M Sport, with the team carefully managing his TOCA Turbo Boost (TTB) deployment. Due to his fifth-place standing in the championship, Jake will have just 9 seconds of TTB available per lap in qualifying—deployable only above 130 kph—and will be permitted just 5 laps of hybrid usage in the opening 15-lap race on Sunday.

Round Five kicks off on Saturday with two free practice sessions followed by qualifying at 15:00 BST, which will be streamed live on the ITV Sport YouTube channel. All three races take place on Sunday, with live coverage on ITV4 and streaming on ITVX. Sunday’s triple-header is scheduled to start at 12:20, 14:40, and 17:05 BST. Live timing for all sessions is available here.

Jake Hill, Driver – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport
"This weekend brings a fresh challenge as we head to Oulton Park – a circuit that’s a complete contrast to the fast, flowing nature of Thruxton. Our BMW 330i M Sport has a strong track record here, and with solid results over the past two years, I’m heading into the weekend feeling confident we can start to get our season back on track.

Oulton Park is always a highlight on the calendar. It’s a fantastic circuit to drive – technical, demanding, and with little margin for error. The season so far hasn’t gone the way we’d hoped, but I’m optimistic this weekend can mark a turning point and allow us to start delivering the results we know we’re capable of."

Mark Blundell, Sporting Director – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport
"After a challenging start to the season, the team has regrouped and is ready to come out fighting. Oulton Park offers a fresh opportunity to get back on the front foot. It’s a circuit that rewards precision, so our focus is firmly on maximising every session and pushing ourselves back to where we know we belong.

We’ve enjoyed success here in the past, which gives us a solid platform to build from – but with the changes this year, we know we can’t rely on past performances. We need to be at the top of our game to fight our way back to the front."
