Trio of top-tens for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport at Donington Park

September 1, 2025

Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport collected another valuable haul of points at Donington Park, as Jake Hill battled hard around the GP circuit to record sixth, ninth and fifth-place finishes in round eight of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship.

Arriving on the back of a brilliant weekend at Knockhill, confidence was high heading into Donington. Jake opened proceedings with P15 and P13 in the two free practice sessions before heading into the first group of qualifying. At the wheel of his #1 WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport, he progressed into the top-12 shootout. In Q2, Jake’s opening lap was quick enough to place him well inside the top six, but a track limits infringement saw the time deleted. With rain beginning to fall and the clock ticking down, he was unable to post another competitive lap, leaving him P11 on the grid for Sunday’s opener.

Race day began under bright skies, and Jake wasted no time moving forward in race one. A series of committed overtakes saw him climb up the order, eventually taking the chequered flag in a strong sixth place.

Lining up on the third row for race two, Jake again showed his pace and was firmly in the fight for the podium when a sudden downpour at McLeans caught out the leading pack. Sliding off into the gravel alongside several rivals, Jake dropped down the order but fought back resiliently to salvage ninth as the race ended behind the safety car.

The reverse grid handed Jake P9 for the day’s final contest, where he bolted on the harder tyre compound. Demonstrating excellent speed and a string of well-judged overtakes, he charged up the order and narrowly missed out on the podium, taking fifth at the flag.

Leaving Donington, Jake remains fifth in the Drivers’ Championship with 225 points. The team now looks ahead to Silverstone on 20–21 September for round nine of the campaign.

Jake Hill, Driver – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport
"It’s great to be leaving Donington with more strong points, but it does feel like a case of what might have been, given the pace we had. The qualifying infringement left us on the back foot, but the car felt fantastic on Sunday, and we came close to the podium more than once. We were unlucky at times, but that’s racing, and I’m excited to head to Silverstone, where hopefully we can turn our pace into even stronger results. A huge thanks to everyone at Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport and WSR – Silverstone can’t come soon enough!"

Mark Blundell, Sporting Director – Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport
"The team did a great job in tricky conditions, and Jake showed strong pace across all three races. We were unlucky not to be on the podium, but the positives are clear, and the momentum is there heading into the final stages of the season. A big thank you to the whole team and to our valued partners for their continued support. We’ll be ready to push again at Silverstone."
